Hello! Iβm Kelly Edwards of Arbor Gallery! At Arbor Gallery, we celebrate the amazing talent of artists from the Hudson Valley. For almost 18 months, we’ve hosted solo and group art shows, creating a lively space for art in our community. As the curator, Iβm inspired by the passion and creativity of the artists who want to showcase their work with us. Our visitors are always impressed by the quality and variety of the art on display. Beyond exhibitions, Arbor Gallery offers fun activities like art and yoga workshops, classes, vendor events, and open calls for artists. Past Exhibits
We have had five open-calls for artwork for groups shows, along with many solo exhibitions by artists such as Florence DβAngelo, Matthew Franz, Philip Gebhardt, Ryan Patrick Martin, Scott Garrette and more. Current Exhibit
Our current show, Luminous, is a group show featuring 49 artists and80 pieces of artwork curated from an open-call for artworkshowcasing light and luminosity. Show runs through February 28,2025.
Upcoming Exhibits
The 2025 calendar features shows by Cecile Rober Froid and Wayne Toepp, our next show, Conversations II by Sharon Nakazato, Joann Zwolski, and Georgina Honohan, and group shows planned for the summer, fall, and holidays.

Opening Receptions
Our monthly opening receptions to celebrate the current exhibitions have become a hub for artists to network with each other from all around the area. Itβs been a pleasure to see the connections lead to collectors, shows, workshops, etc, among the art community, branching many artists out into new communities.
Workshops, Classes and More
MoreArbor Gallery has hosted artist talks, yoga groups, art classes and workshops, vendor events, and shopping events. We are looking to provide more workshop opportunities to our community.
OPEN – CALLS
Arbor Gallery hosts open-calls for artwork several times a year. Itβs a great way to get your artwork seen by many attendees and patrons with low upfront cost and lower commission fees.

THEME:
Our open-calls are usually have a theme and are juried. The prospectus
will share what we are looking for each show.
The gallery receives many entries,
and space is limited. It is getting harder to accept work that doesnβt fit the
theme or the requirements.
FEES: Open-calls at any gallery almost always have at least a hanging fee and commission. Some galleries require a submission fee as well – Arbor Gallery currently does not. Itβs possible for different shows to have a different fee schedule. Reading the exhibition terms is crucial to know what will be expected from the artist. REQUIREMENTS/RULES: There are often size/weight limitations, medium limitations, hanging method expectations, and price requirements distinctly detailed for the show. Arbor Gallery supplies all this information on the submission form on our OPEN-CALLS page when we have one open.
Quality Images of Your Art
A good image of your work makes a big difference.
Lighting, angles, and image file size can affect your acceptance. Natural light, and usually a straight-on photo works best.
There are many apps that can help color correct with accuracy, if needed -Photoshop if youβre familiar is excellent, Snapseed is an app I use on my mobile device that I highly recommend. The goal is to get an accurate representation of the artwork.
Glare/reflection on glass can create a blind spot on the image. Itβs best to photograph without glass.

The image on the left was downsized too much and is pixelated. Along with poor lighting, it makes the image hard to accept. The image on the right wasΒ color-correctedΒ in Photoshop and saved to a size that fits the show requirements but does not lose the quality of details.
PRESENTATION
If you donβt treat your artwork like itβs worthy of presentation, itβs likely no one else will think itβs worth it.
Paint canvas edges, mat, and frame artwork when it needs protection, and keep it clean. Museum glass is best, but Anit-Reflective is more affordable if needed and still has some UV protection.
If framed, the frame should enhance your piece, not compete with it. Keep in mind cohesion if you are doing a solo show or sale.
Canvas – To Frame or Not To Frame?
I get this question a lot. In general, if your edges are clean or finished, framing is not necessary. However, if you are at a point where you are asking for high prices on your artwork, there may come a time when a collector will expect a frame to polish off the piece.
Be sure your stretched pieces are supported so they do not warp.
