Phyllis is a mixed media artist living in the Hudson Valley. She has a master’s in art education from Manhattanville College and taught art classes locally for 10 years before retiring to create in her home studio.
Her art consists of looking at life and finding new ways to portray it, most recently she is working in layers using photography, painting, and mixed media, The subjects that inspire her come from life experiences; (books, nature, dreams etc.) Experimentation is where she finds joy. Phyllis looks for ways to use of different mediums and supports that don’t normally go together and asks, ” Why not”? She likens it to sculpting. Where the artist allows or uncovers something, or looks for what is asking to be seen, whether it’s on canvas, paper, metal, or with a camera. She loves to share her work and hear what
others see when they look at it and hopes that what is created inspires people to see things in new ways. She is currently a member of the
Sherman Artists Association; Inspiration Art Group International; River Winds; ASBA;
Great Hollow Photographers Club; Arts Mid-Hudson; Putnam Arts Council & FrOGS. Phyllis sells her work via local & virtual shows, and on her website. You can also find rotating exhibits of her artwork at Perk Up a cafe in Stormville, NY.
